Boston gangster James "Whitey" Bulger is again calling his trial a sham, and his lawyer says he refused to provide any information to officials preparing a report for the judge who will sentence him.
Bulger's two day sentencing hearing started Wednesday morning. Prosecutors are seeking two consecutive life sentences.
The 84-year-old was convicted in August in a broad indictment that included racketeering charges in a string of murders in the 1970s and '80s, as well as extortion, money-laundering and weapons charges.
Bulger did not testify. He called his trial a sham because he was not allowed to use as a defense his claim that a now-deceased prosecutor gave him immunity to commit crimes.
He can speak at the sentencing hearing if he wants, but it's not known if he will.
