Former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown spent the weekend at the Iowa State Fair – which is a regular stop for any presidential hopeful. He told reporters that he’s exploring a possible run for the White House.

“I’ll put my national security credentials of 34 years in the military, a colonel still serving at the Pentagon, and also my fiscal conservatism against anybody in the country’s, put my experience in public service, business and the military against any of the people that are considering 's running for higher office,” Brown told reporters. “But it’s really up to the people to make that determination as to whether me or others like me have the qualifications, the common sense, the problem solving ability to get the job done.”

Tufts University political science professor Jeff Berry said Brown is interested in seeing how Iowa voters respond to him.

“Scott Brown is serious in at least looking into this. It’s not flippant or comical. He’s very much running something up the flagpole and seeing who salutes,” Berry said.

Ever since Brown lost his senate seat to Elizabeth Warren last November, he’s kept his name in the news. He’s expressed interest in running for Massachusetts Governor and for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire, where he has a vacation home.

Brown said he’ll decide whether to run for governor within the week.
