Whether you have an E-Z Pass transponder on your car, or not, Massachusetts has a plan to make it easier for your to pass through all those toll booths on the Mass Pike.

The idea is pretty simple. Eliminate the plazas and the jobs- some 400 workers who pull up to $65,000 per year in salary before overtime. But, according to Governor Deval Patrick, the plan isn't about the toll workers, it's about having a modern and efficient transportation system.

Boston Herald reporter Hillary Chabot, who broke the story on Gov. Patrick's plans to eliminate toll workers, joined Boston Public Radio's Emily Rooney to talk about the state's plan.
