With the NFL in playoff season, some are saying that the 12-4 New England Patriots have underperformed expectations. The team lost on Sunday to the Miami Dolphins.

On Tuesday, NBC Sports Boston Reporter Trenni Kusnierek phoned in to Boston Public Radio to give her take on Sunday’s game, and a Boston Globe piece calling the loss “pathetic.”

"We’re seeing things that we’ve never seen before,” Kusnierek said of Sunday’s 27-24 loss. “So while [Globe columnist Ben Volin] is being a little doom and gloom, I don’t think he is expressing an opinion that is that far off from a lot of the other columns I read yesterday.”

"This year ... has not been a typical year for the Patriots,” she continued. “This is the 4-11 Dolphins. And not even the 4-11 Dolphins in Miami, where the Patriots have historically struggled to get wins for whatever reason. … This game was in Foxborough, where they had not lost to the Dolphins since 2008.”

The Patriots are scheduled to compete against the Tennessee Titans this Saturday in Foxborough as part of wild-card weekend.
