Bill Ayers is best known as one of the founders the Weather Underground, which staunchly opposed the Vietnam War and dreamed of overthrowing the US government. He gained notoriety when the group was linked to multiple instances of violence against the government, however, the charges were dropped due to illegal evidence-gathering. Fast-forward a decade and Ayers became a professor in Chicago specializing in education reform. In the ‘90s, he served as an advisor to Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and, at times, ran in the same circles as then-Senator Barack Obama — a fact that stirred up some controversy during the 2008 Presidential election.

Bill Ayers joined Adam Reilly to discuss his new book on education reform, “You Can’t Fire the Bad Ones! And 18 Other Myths About Teachers, Teacher’s Union, and Public Education,” and a current event or two.
