Guster, the alternative rock group from Somerville, is getting ready to kick off a month-long tour to promote their new album, “Look Alive,” which will be released on Jan. 18th. Together since they were teenagers at Tufts University, the four members of Guster made their way through the local college radio circuit until they released their 1999 album “Lost and Gone Forever,” which propelled them onto the national stage and in 2012 was ranked by Paste magazine as one of the top albums of the 1990s.

On Monday, Guster performed a few songs for Boston Public Radio at WGBH’s Fraser Performance Studio.
