Boston Mayor Marty Walsh believes the federal government is not doing enough to help the people of hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico and suggested the island, still reeling from last year’s storms, is being forgotten by the federal government. Walsh visited the island last month with Boston Red Sox President Sam Kennedy, where they helped deliver 10 tons of supplies to the city of Caguas, just south of San Juan.

This weekend the second annual ‘Winter Walk’ will raise awareness and money for  the city’s approximately 6,000 homeless men, women and children. It will be cold, and it very well may be raining — but that is the point. The walk begins and ends in Copley Square and gives participants the opportunity to enjoy breakfast with and hear stories from the homeless community. Jim Braude was joined by two of the co-founders of the effort — Ari Barbanell, the executive director of Winter Walk, and Paul English, co-founder of travel sites Kayak and Lola.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra is hosting its first-ever Leipzig Week, to mark a new partnership with the world famous, 275-year-old Gewandhausorchester. This week marks the beginning of a five-year partnership between the two orchestras. Leipzig Week celebrates the alliance, which includes musician exchanges and shared performances in both home countries in addition to concerts all this week. This summer, Leipzig will celebrate its own "Boston Week." Jim Braude sat down with Andris Nelsons, music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Gewandhaus; Prof. Andreas Schulz, the general director of Gewandhaus; and Mark Volpe, the managing director of the BSO.
