During his campaign, President-elect Donald Trump made many promises. He said he was going to bring back jobs, build a wall, drain the swamp, get rid of Obamacare, and above all, make America great again. These promises appealed to the heartland of America, the working class, and those looking for the Rockwellian ideal of America as it appeared on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post in the 50’s. This was an America that a regular Joe could understand. This could be Trump’s America. While Trump may not have won the popular vote, he certainly was a populist candidate.
