Donald Trump is going to head to head with one of the most powerful politicians in the country. Yesterday, House Speaker Paul Ryan -- the highest ranking elected member of the GOP -- conducted a conference call with his members and said he would no longer campaign for Trump. Ryan claims he will now focus his efforts on the down ballot state races to help the Republican majority.

Trump took to Twitter -- saying 'It’s hard to do well when Paul Ryan and others give zero support,' and that, 'Disloyal R’s are far more difficult than Crooked Hillary. They come at you from all sides. They don’t know how to win. I will teach them.“

Currently, the Republicans have 246 seats in the House of Representatives. The Democrats need to win 30 of them to take over and some hope a decisive Clinton victory could do the trick. A significant number of seats held by house Republicans were won by Barack Obama. If Hillary Clinton can improve upon Barack Obama’s performance slightly, as she looks like she will do now, the Democrats will be back in the house majority.

Some of the Republican rank and file are giving Ryan some pushback -- and are standing by Trump -- despite the now infamous video tape of the candidate making derogatory and vulgar comments about women. Apologies don’t absolve everything, but he has apologized and has shown the first signs of humility that Donald Trump has shown throughout the entire campaign.  If we’re going to move a conservative Republican platform agenda, the best way to do it is with a President Trump.
