The last full day of winter brought a nasty mix of heavy wind-driven snow to many areas of Massachusetts, forcing morning traffic to a crawl and prompting schools to stay closed.
By the time the National Weather Service's winter storm warning expires at 11 o'clock this morning, some areas of Massachusetts could get a foot of snow.
The general rule is that the farther north, the more snow.
While Cape Cod and the South Coast are expecting mostly sleet and rain, the Boston area could get six to eight inches by the time all is said and done, while northern Worcester and Middlesex could have a foot.
Western areas of the state are expecting less accumulation and no significant coastal flooding is expected.
Power outages were at a minimum early Tuesday.
