We’ve heard so much about the obesity epidemic in America, about childhood obesity, about the health risk that come with being overweight- from heart disease to Type 2 diabetes to death. But new research on weight challenges how so many of us have come to think about the relationship between our weight and health. A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association finds that being slightly overweight may cut your risk of dying prematurely.

Kara Miller spoke about the research, and what being "on the heavy side" means on Boston Public Radio with obesity expert Dr. David Katz, and Katherine Flegal, the lead researcher of the review.
