We’re rocking around the Christmas tree today with an hour devoted to Christmas music. Songs like "Silent Night" and "Silver Bells" have long captured the Christmas spirit. They’re our mainstream window to the past. They’re a guarantee that the holiday custom will carry on. Today we’re paying tribute to these songs — serving them up with a twist.

For over twenty years, WGBH Broadcast Engineer  Mike Wilkins has been building an eclectic catalog of Christmas songs. We’re not talking "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer." These are  rarefied recordings,  remakes and remixes From Skindred's  re-jiggering of Jingle Bells to The Cryptkeeper's kicking rendition of "The 12 Days of Christmas."  From Bob Dylan to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, we’re decking the airwaves with  cornball, oddball, crazy, and quirky tunes.
