At noon: The Chicago teachers' strike has entered its second day, as unions battle administrators and the Mayor's office over salary compensation and teacher evaluations. Roughly 350,000 students are locked out of classes until the impasse is resolved.
Here in Boston, teachers unions waged similar battles over evaluation processes. Tense August days leading up to the start of the school year failed to produce results, but Boston teachers have not yet taken the drastic step of their Chicago counterparts.
Today we hear the latest on the Chicago strikes, and whether fault lines in Boston may still shake if and when an agreement isn't reached.
