The alt-rock band’s eighth studio album, Look Alive (released Jan 18, 2019) is a continuation of the band’s commitment to evolving their sound with each new album.

Marcus King performs acoustic versions of songs off his third full-length album, Carolina Confessions, live at WGBH’s Fraser Performance Studio. King recorded the new album with producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, John Prine, Jason Isbell) at Nashville's iconic RCA Studio A.

Anjimile — Live At FraserAnjimile performs live at WGBH’s Fraser Performance Studio. Anjimile is a Boston-based queer and trans songmaker, raised in the suburbs of Richardson, Texas. As a first-generation Malawian-American their experiences with racism, homophobia and xenophobia in the deep south helped to form the basis of their politics and music. Anjimile is the winner of WBUR’s Favorite Massachusetts Entry to the Tiny Desk Contest 2018 and three-time nominee for the 2018 Boston Music Awards.

Mandolin Orange — Live At FraserSinger-songwriter Andrew Marlin and multi-instrumentalist Emily Frantz formed Mandolin Orange in Chapel Hill, NC back in 2009. In the years since they’ve built a steady and sizable fanbase around their unique blend of Americana, bluegrass, folk, gospel, country, and pop. A few hundred fortunate WGBH members got the chance to experience this special performance by Andrew and Emily (along with their full touring band) in our intimate Fraser Performance Studio.

J.S. Ondara — In StudioJ.S. Ondara performs a live acoustic set in WGBH’s Fraser Performance Studio. The 2018 NPR Slingshot artist grew up in Nairobi, Kenya and moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2013 out of admiration for his musical hero (and native Minnesotan), Bob Dylan. Ondara learned English both in school and through his love of artists like Nirvana, Neil Young, and Bob Dylan.

Dermot Kennedy — In StudioA native of County Dublin, singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy began writing songs in his teens. The current NPR Slingshot artist stopped by WGBH’s Fraser performance studio on a blazing hot August afternoon to perform a powerfully intimate set featuring two songs on guitar and two on piano. NPR Music’s Stephen Thompson recently wrote that Kennedy has “a voice built to fill stadiums”. The moment Dermot began to sing we were left with the same jaw-dropping feeling. It's clear Dermot is well on his way to doing some pretty special things in music.

Alejandro Rose-Garcia (aka Shakey Graves) is known for his stripped-down one-man-band style fusion of blues, folk, and rock playing his signature suitcase-turned-kick-drum along with raw, aggressive guitar & vocals. On this Wednesday night in Boston, Shakey delivered plenty of that signature sound mixed in with a full rock band arrangement joined by drummer Chris Boosahda, guitarist Patrick O’Connor and bassist John Shaw.

Madisen Ward and The Mama Bear — 'Dreams'Kansas City-based mother-and-son duo Madisen Ward and The Mama Bear finished up a year of extensive touring at Brighton Music Hall in Allston, MA (this being the band’s third and final time in Boston in 2015). After an incredible year it's still all about the music for Madisen and Ruth Ward. "Going from the coffee houses to more of a national stage," says Ruth Ward, "it's really great, but at the same token, when I'm on a big stage with a lot of people watching and really into the music, instead of being freaked out about it-- I just narrow it down to closing my eyes and think, 'Well, they're in my dining room and I'm just playing to a few people'...But at the same time I love the rapport we have with the audience.
