BOSTON, Mass. (Oct. 3, 2025) – Stories from the Stage, the acclaimed storytelling series from Boston public media producer GBH and WORLD, has announced the premiere of its ninth season, opening with its 175th episode. This milestone is a testament to the more than 500 talented storytellers who have graced the stage, sharing their raw, authentic, and universally resonant stories that celebrate the depth and breadth of human experience. Season 9, which premieres on Monday, Oct. 6, promises another captivating lineup of narratives, fostering connection and understanding in an increasingly complex world.
“Nine years ago, we launched Stories from the Stage as a way to counter the negativity in the world by discovering uplifting real stories from people navigating love, family, community, learning from failure and triumphing over the odds,” said Stories from the Stage co-executive producer Liz Cheng. “Our storytellers, often first-timers, offer hope, inspiration, and positivity to those willing to listen.”
Season 9 of Stories from the Stage features voices from across the country and around the world, from Los Angeles and New York City to Korea, Honduras, and Ireland. Viewers will meet Paul, a former NFL player advocating for immigrants; Tracey, who receives the proposal of her dreams; Lorenzo, a celebrity chef receiving a heart transplant; Michelle, bravely helping a detective find her attacker; Samantha, who earns her way to sing on Broadway; and Ruby, who celebrates her father’s Chinatown recipes.
“Season after season, I am always moved by the connections Stories from the Stage viewers make to the storytellers, and when a story opens minds to perspectives different than their own,” said Stories from the Stage co-executive producer Patricia Alvarado Núñez. “That is the magic of storytelling: It connects us, bridges divides, and reminds us to treat each other with kindness.”
Stories from the Stage airs nationally Mondays at 9:30 p.m. ET on WORLD and is repeated locally on GBH 2 at 8 p.m. ET on Fridays. Stream stories anytime on the PBS app, YouTube, and Facebook. Listen on GBH 89.7 Sundays at 7 p.m. ET or any time on the Stories from the Stage podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other major podcast platforms.
