Boston, Mass. (June 17, 2025) The World, the daily radio program of global news and analysis from public media organizations GBH and PRX, and DW, Germany’s international public broadcaster, are extending their global reach through a collaboration to expand international news coverage. The World and DW collaboration offers an even more robust slate of global journalism for U.S. audiences while also growing the impact of trusted international reporting from both DW and The World.
The World will feature DW podcast reports from shows like Living Planet and Inside Europe during the daily broadcast and at TheWorld.org. DW will air audio reports from The World podcasts on an ongoing basis, and feature The World reporting at DW.com.
Through this new collaboration, The World audiences can now access signature DW reporting exploring topics such as the pros and cons of the global flower market trade, updates on the sentencing of Bosnian-Serb leader Milorad Dodik, and Europe’s search for alternatives to Starlink. DW audiences can tap into The World’s global journalism covering breaking news and features, from Japanese ghost towns to Ontario’s $15 billion plan to build small modular nuclear reactors.
“At The World, we pride ourselves on sharing the most important news from around the globe with American audiences,” said Patti Daniels, Supervising Producer of The World. “We look forward to working with DW to open even more corners of the world to our listeners, thanks to DW’s unique access and global presence.”
“We are excited about our new partnership with The World by GBH/PRX in the U.S. This collaboration will span multiple levels, including cross-promotion, content exchange, sharing regional expertise, and ensuring climate change and environmental reporting remains relevant,” said Vanessa Fischer, DW Head of Environment. “In times of geopolitical tensions, this partnership is a powerful testament to the importance of transatlantic dialogue and underscores the critical role of professional and independent journalism.”
One of public radio’s flagship news programs presenting reports on topics of global impact, The World from GBH and PRX is co-hosted by Marco Werman and Carolyn Beeler and produced by a team of accomplished journalists. Airing on more than 370 public media stations in the U.S. and heard by nearly 2 million listeners each week, The World is also available free across all major on-demand podcast platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, Overcast, and Pocket Casts.
