(Boston, MA - May 30, 2025) – GBH News has been honored with eight Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards — the most in a single year in the newsroom’s history — by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA).
Among the GBH News reporting recognized by RTDNA is the short documentary, Don’t Judge Me, about one man’s return to society after prison; coverage of people with disabilities; and After Arrival: Migrants in Massachusetts, a series exploring the challenges, and the triumphs, of migrants establishing new lives in the Bay State. The award-winning work spans radio, television, digital, and social platforms.
In addition to the awards received by GBH News, CAI, the Cape and Islands public radio station, was recognized with two Regional Murrow Awards in the Hard News and Excellence in Sound categories, and New England Public Media (NEPM) in western Massachusetts was recognized with a Regional Murrow Award in the Digital category.
Awarded by RTDNA, the Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards recognize excellence in broadcast and digital journalism and are considered one of the most prestigious awards in the news industry. Regional winners are automatically considered for the National Edward R. Murrow Awards, with winners set to be announced in August.
“During this especially fast-paced moment for news, I am proud of the teams at GBH News, CAI, and NEPM for consistently generating powerful and thoughtful reporting that our communities trust,“ said GBH News Editor-in-Chief Dan Lothian. “The remarkable 11 Regional Murrow Awards received across these public media newsrooms this year reflect the dedication and professionalism that our journalists bring every day to their work.”
