And Editor-in-Chief and Executive Producer Raney Aronson-Rath inducted into National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Silver Circle  

(Boston, MA - September 27, 2024) – FRONTLINE, the investigative journalism series based at Boston public media producer GBH, has been honored with two awards at the 45th annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards. The winners were announced during a two-night ceremony in New York City on September 25 and 26. In addition, FRONTLINE’s editor-in-chief and executive producer, Raney Aronson-Rath, was inducted into the Silver Circle, an honor from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) recognizing individuals with more than 25 years of impactful contributions to television.

FRONTLINE’s Clarence and Ginni Thomas: Politics, Power and the Supreme Court, won in the “Outstanding Politics and Government Documentary” category. Made with support from Preserving Democracy, a public media reporting initiative from The WNET Group, the documentary tells the inside story of Clarence and Ginni Thomas’ path to power. The May 2023 program traces how race, power and controversy collide in the rise of the Supreme Court justice and his wife, and how the couple has reshaped American law and politics.

Global Spyware Scandal: Exposing Pegasus, a two-part series created in partnership with Forbidden Films and the Pegasus Project consortium, received the award for “Outstanding Investigative Documentary.” The January 2023 program investigates the powerful spyware Pegasus, developed by the Israeli company NSO Group, and used on journalists, activists, the wife and fiancée of Saudi columnist Jamal Khashoggi, and others.

Presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), the News & Documentary Emmy Awards seek to honor outstanding achievements in news and documentary programming.
