Boston (July 21, 2022) - GBH Kids, home of Boston public media producer GBH’s award-winning children’s programming, has been honored with two 2022 Kidscreen Awards.

GBH Kids, along with PBS KIDS was honored in the “Best Web/ App Series - Branded” category for the exploratory adventure series, Molly of Denali - Awesome Alaskan Kids. The team, along with the design and development studio, Global Mechanic, also won in the “Best Alternative Game” category for the interactive artistic game, Scribbles and Ink: Far and Away.

“I am proud that the GBH Kids team has been recognized for their hard work and dedication, ensuring that the content that we distribute to children throughout the nation is of the highest quality possible,” said Jon Abbott, GBH President and CEO. “These awards prove just how committed GBH and the individuals behind each of these projects are to continually developing innovative, educational, and entertaining media for our youngest viewers.”

Molly of Denali – Awesome Alaskan Kids is a series of live-action shorts where real kids around Alaska vlog about their passions, cultures and communities just like Molly does in the animated series. These authentic kid-driven shorts are created for children ages 4-8 and tie into the series’ informational text curriculum.

Based on the popular book series by author and illustrator Ethan Long, Scribbles and Ink is an interactive game that offers children ages 4-8 the opportunity to highlight their inner-illustrator by putting their unique creations straight into the animated series.
“Congratulations to the GBH Kids team for all of their success this year,” said Terry Fitzpatrick, Vice President for Children’s Media and Education at GBH. “It is an honor to be recognized by our media colleagues for the dedicated work that our team puts into curating educationally enriching content for children all around the country to enjoy”.

The 2022 Kidscreen Awards celebrate the year’s best work in children’s television and digital media. This is the 2nd year in a row that GBH Kids has been honored by Kidscreen.
