Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.

Today’s mural by Shalea Niles depicts the burning forests of California, the scorched landscapes of Congo, the smoldering grounds of Sudan, and the relentless flames in Palestine. This piece cradles the ember of collective pain and resilience, a reminder that from destruction blooms rebirth. Encased in a flower, rises with wings of flame, carrying the grief and strength of generations.

“The rivers run with hope, the trees char yet whisper stories of survival, and the seeds of a new world sprout even in the ashes,” Niles says. “We are the fire, the destruction, and the rebirth.”
