With their commitment to civic engagement and equality, Quakers have influenced the course of political and social change in America. Quakers: The Quiet Revolutionaries profiles Quakers from Susan B. Anthony to Bayard Rustin who have influenced important social movements throughout U.S. history — such as the abolition of slavery, women's suffrage, civil rights, environmental justice and world peace. Edward Hicks painted "Peaceable Kingdom", seen on today's mural, symbolizing a Quaker ideal of "Heaven on Earth".
