To commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day, today’s mural shows two tributes to the many who took part in the battles of that turning point of World War II.

The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial honors American troops who died in Europe during World War II. It is located on a bluff overlooking Omaha Beach
and contains 9,388 burials.

The National D-Day Memorial was dedicated in 2001. It is located in Bedford, Virginia, which sustained the highest per capita D-Day losses: 20 of the 32 soldiers from the small town perished at the invasion of Normandy.

We remember their sacrifices and hope we never again need to face such a situation.
