Today’s mural brings to attention the North Atlantic Right Whale, one of the world’s most endangered large whale species, with only an estimated 450 remaining. Foraging off the New England coast, the great creatures must contend with fishing line entanglement, vessel strikes, noise pollution and habitat destruction. The Massachusetts Environmental Trust is one program supporting efforts to preserve the marine mammal.
