  • Dr. Janis F. Andersen, interim deam of College's School of Communication, has been named its new dean. Andersen had served as the interim dean since September. "This is an exciting opportunity for me to bring to my own discipline of communication the administrative skills I have honed in central administration," Andersen said. "Emerson College is an extraordinary institution with talented and dedicated faculty, staff, students and alumni. I am honored to have been asked to stay." Before coming to Emerson, Andersen held several positions at San Diego State University (SDSU.) While at SDSU, Andersen served as a professor of communication, interim dean of the Graduate Division at SDSU, and as an associate vice president of graduate and research affairs. Andersen received undergraduate degrees from Bradley University and an Ed.D. in education psychology from West Virginia University. She has authored or co-authored three workbooks on communications and over 50 scholarly articles which have appeared in publications such as *Communication Quarterly*, and *Human Communication Research*.
  • Hugh Drummond is a vice president in O'Neill and Associates communications division, offering a diverse portfolio of expertise in media relations, communications, marketing, and government affairs gleaned from experience with nonprofits, corporations, start ups, public relations agencies, and Capitol Hill, as well as state-wide and national political campaigns. At O'Neill and Associates, Mr. Drummond provides crisis communications support to clients in the aviation and long-term care sectors. He also supports PR and marketing campaigns for clients in financial services, energy, non-profit, education and real estate development. Mr. Drummond's political background includes work as a special advisor to former U.S. Senator Bill Bradley, national scheduling and advance director for Senator Bradley's 2000 presidential campaign, and deputy campaign manager for former Massachusetts State Senator Warren Tolman's 2002 gubernatorial campaign.
  • Roland Barth is an author, consultant, school leader, former Harvard Graduate School of Education faculty member, but foremost he is an educator at heart. A former teacher and principal, Barth is also the founder of The Principals' Center, a professional development program based at HGSE for school principals, assistant principals, and other school leaders. For the past four decades, Barth's work has impacted educators from all over the world. He continues to do so through the many books he has authored including *Open Education and the American School*, *Improving Schools from Within*, *Run School Run*, *Lessons Learned*, and *Learning by Heart*.
  • Jim Braude is the co-host of Boston Public Radio.During law school, Jim ran a small retail business in Provincetown (HUBE - Help Us Break Even!). He started his professional career as a legal services lawyer in the South Bronx handling housing and prisoners’ rights cases. He was the founder and first president of the National Organization of Legal Services Workers, a union representing staff in civil legal offices for the poor in 35 states. NOLSW helped lead the fight to preserve the national program when President Reagan proposed its abolition.
  • Cecil W. Stoughton, who was President John F. Kennedy's White House photographer, whose photographs of JFK and his wife and children shared their personal lives with the American public, and who took the iconic photograph of Lyndon B. Johnson being sworn in as president aboard Air Force One in Texas after JFK's 1963 assassination, died at him home in Merritt Island, Florida. Stoughton was 88 and had been ill for some time, according to his family and friends. He struggled with a heart problem after having hip replacement surgery several years ago, according to his family. He was the personal photographer to presidents Kennedy and Johnson before the position had a formal name.
  • Donahue, vice chairman of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, has maintained a private law practice since 2001. Prior to establishing his private practice, Mr. Donahue was partner in Donahue & Donahue Attorneys from 1951 to 2001. Mr. Donahue was an assistant to President John F. Kennedy in the White House from 1960 to 1963. He was president and chief operating officer for NIKE, Inc. from 1990 to 1994. He currently serves as vice chairman of the Board for NIKE where he has been a director since 1977. Mr. Donahue is a former president of the New England Bar Association and of the Massachusetts Bar Association from which he received the Gold Medal in 1979. He is the recipient of several honorary degrees. Mr. Donahue is a graduate of Dartmouth College and of Boston University Law School, which honored him with the Silver Shingle Award in 1991. Mr. Donahue is an original member of the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award Committee, which he served and chaired from its inception in 1989.
  • Eliot Laurence Spitzer is an American lawyer and former politician of the Democratic Party. He served as Governor of New York from January 2007 until his resignation on March 17, 2008 in the wake of the exposure of his involvement in a high-priced prostitution ring. Prior to being elected governor, Spitzer served as New York State Attorney General. Spitzer was born and raised in Riverdale, in The Bronx borough of New York City, to real estate tycoon Bernard Spitzer and Anne Spitzer, an English literature professor. He attended Princeton University for his undergraduate studies and Harvard University for law school. It was there that he met his future wife, Silda Wall. In the 1998 election, Spitzer defeated incumbent Republican Dennis Vacco by a slim margin to become New York State Attorney General. As attorney general, Spitzer prosecuted cases relating to corporate white collar crime, securities fraud, internet fraud and environmental protection. He most notably pursued cases against companies involved in computer chip price fixing, investment bank stock price inflation, predatory lending practices by mortgage lenders,fraud at American International Group, and the 2003 mutual fund scandal. In 2006, Spitzer was elected governor of New York after defeating Republican John Faso in the November election. During his time in office, he proposed a bill to legalize same-sex marriage in New York and issued an executive order allowing undocumented immigrants to be issued driver's licenses, which have both attracted controversy. In July 2007, he was admonished for his administration's involvement in ordering the State Police to record the whereabouts of State Senate majority leader Joseph L. Bruno. On March 10, 2008, *The New York Times* reported that Spitzer was a client of a prostitution ring under investigation by the federal government. Two days later, he announced his resignation as governor of New York.
  • Rosabeth Moss Kanter holds the Ernest L. Arbuckle Professorship at Harvard Business School, where she specializes in strategy, innovation, and leadership for change. Her strategic and practical insights have guided leaders of large and small organizations worldwide for over 25 years, through teaching, writing, and direct consultation to major corporations and governments. The former Editor of Harvard Business Review (1989-1992), Professor Kanter has been repeatedly named to lists of the "50 most powerful women in the world" (Times of London), and the "50 most influential business thinkers in the world" (Accenture and Thinkers 50 research). In 2001, she received the Academy of Management's Distinguished Career Award for her scholarly contributions to management knowledge; and in 2002 was named "Intelligent Community Visionary of the Year" by the World Teleport Association, and in 2010 received the International Leadership Award from the Association of Leadership Professionals. She is the author or co-author of 18 books. Her latest book, SuperCorp: How Vanguard Companies Create Innovation, Profits, Growth, and Social Good, a manifesto for leadership of sustainable enterprises, was named one of the ten best business books of 2009 by Amazon.com.
