French mezzo-soprano Sophie Michaux and her Massachusetts-based cross-genre ensemble, Tiny Glass Tavern, join GBH Music for a sparkling performance of musical delights spanning the old and new worlds, drawing from the group’s imaginative signature blend of styles, languages, and artists. From the depths of archaic village rituals to the heights of ornate Venetian palazzos, Tiny Glass Tavern will take audiences on an early winter journey like no other, discovering the many masks - but the same beating heart - of the world's most cherished holiday.

Shake evil spirits out of sleeping trees, honor the king of all birds, join rousing Southern Gospel hymns, dance in Parisian street fêtes, and pray at the bones of St. Nicholas in a high-spirited program of songs and tunes from Mediterranean, Celtic, French, and American regions with reimagined radio favorites peppered in. So pull up a chair, take off your coat, and let them pour you a tiny glass of something delightful, unexpected, and wonderful.

In an annual GBH Music tradition, A Tiny Glass Christmas will be filmed in front of a live audience in Fraser Performance Studio and be shared with viewers and listeners across Massachusetts through broadcasts on GBH 2, NEPM, and CRB Classical 99.5.
