After conquering their long-time rivals, the New York Yankees, in the American League Division Series and defeating the defending Worlds Series champions, the Houston Astros, in the American League Championship series, the Boston Red Sox' successful bid for another World Series title reminded many Bostonians why they root for their home team. As the Red Sox battled the Los Angeles Dodgers for baseball's biggest prize, we asked local Sox fans to describe their most memorable Red Sox moment.

I couldn't imagine raising my kids without baseball, but at the moment, I was not sure it was good parenting.

-Tal McCormick, a Boston resident, remembers taking her son to his first Red Sox game, where he was reduced to a puddle of tears after watching them lose.

[David Ortiz] ran around the bases and the whole place was going nuts. It was the first time anybody, I think, ever saw him. When he got to home plate, he raised his arms and kissed the sky and said, 'Thank you.'
