Archie is BritBox’s newest limited series focused on exploring Cary Grant’s life beyond the lights of Old Hollywood. Grant’s real name before he adopted his stage name was Archibald “Archie” Leach. He created the suave upper-class British gentleman persona to escape childhood trauma and to ease the struggle to climb the acting ladder. Once the cameras were off, these early troubles affected his real-life marriages and relationships.

GBH Drama spoke to The Sixth Commandment creator and writer Sarah Phelps and director Saul Gibb about their creative process, their approach to responsibly handling and depicting trauma, and why the story resonates with audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. This interview has been edited for length and clarity.

In the Season 2 finale of Annika, the Marine Homicide Unit investigates a barge fire tied to two previous cases that occurred offscreen. In the process, we also discover why Papa Strandhed sought to reconnect with Annika. Morgan, meanwhile, has to navigate change on three fronts. While the season finale resolves the biggest question viewers had from the beginning of this season, it leaves viewers with a new one left unresolved. Let’s dive into more detail.

The Season 2 finale of World On Fire portrays our ensemble of characters making decisions that will change the course of their lives and what role they will play in the ongoing war effort. Although the audience knows how the war ends, our characters face an uncertain future and that is reflected in the last minutes of the episode. Let’s discuss what choices all of the characters made.

This week on Annika, we finally meet Papa Strandhed and find out some of the reasons why Annika’s relationship with her dad is so strained. He suggests doing some family bonding at the same eco-friendly resort where Morgan is doing her work experience. Unfortunately, the family bonding session is interrupted by Annika finding a dead body in the stream. Her monologue repeatedly references the Shakespearian tragedy King Lear. Let’s take a look at why.
