Baker On Opioids: 'Still Far Too Many Overdoses'The opioid epidemic has taken hold in Massachusetts with a vengeance. According to state statistics, opioid-related deaths in the state were more than four times higher in 2015 than in 2000. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health says that between January and September 2017, there were nearly 1,500 confirmed and estimated opioid-related overdose deaths statewide.
