If you don't know him by name or can't picture his face, you surely know the candidates former state Democratic Party Chair John Walsh propelled into office. Walsh, who died last week at 65, was a master of grassroots campaigning who helped Deval Patrick go from political unknown to the corner office, where he became Massachusetts' first Black governor. Walsh subsequently helped several other prominent politicians win elections, including now-Attorney General Andrea Campbell, U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley and Sen. Ed Markey.

Since Walsh passed away, a flood of tributes has poured in from former candidates, colleagues, and friends, featuring at least as much praise for John Walsh the man as for John Walsh the political operative. Adam Reilly is joined by Sarah Groh, Pressley’s chief of staff, and Alex Goldstein, who worked with Walsh on Patrick's campaigns and in his administration and now runs the communications firm 90 West, to reflect on Walsh's personal and political legacy.
