Midterm elections are getting closer and Democrats could face big losses if they don't use the remaining months to deliver on their agenda and remind the public of what they've accomplished, Rep. Jim McGovern told Jim Braude on Greater Boston.

McGovern provided his analysis of the Democrats' agenda, which to counter inflation and draw comparisons between their party and Republicans, who are taking credit for projects within the American Rescue Act, which the Republicans voted against.

"I'm the first to admit the Democrats are not perfect, but let me be honest with you, [Republicans are] nuts. I'm just telling you... These people are not interested in governing. They don't care about protecting Social Security or workers' rights or the environment," McGovern said.

McGovern said it's time to sound the alarm bells to get voters on their side. "I am really worried that this election, these midterm elections, really are going to be a bellwether as to whether or not we continue with our democracy, or we go in a very different direction."

McGovern said if Republicans come out on top, they will try to suppress voting rights, attack labor unions, ignore the climate crisis and push anti-LGBTQ legislation.

"The agenda of the Republican Party now is not the agenda of the Republican Party of your father or grandfather. It is the most extreme, right-wing, QAnon elements that you can imagine," said McGovern.
