The House Intelligence Committee held five full days of public hearings in their impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. National security expert Juliette Kayyem joined Boston Public Radio on Wednesday to discuss what the American public has learned since the hearings wrapped.

"Donald Trump had consciousness of guilt when he released the Ukraine money," she said, alluding to a recent New York Times reportthat reveals Trump had been briefed about the whistle-blower complaint in August.

Kayyem also argued that one thing should not be lost in the partisan nature of the impeachment process. Regardless of political party, "the [electoral] systems are under stress," she said.
