Top Massachusetts lawmakers say the state is moving forward with a plan to hire an outside consultant to make sure no taxpayer money is used for a potential 2024 Boston Olympics.
Senate President Stan Rosenberg says his staff is working on paperwork to begin the process of hiring an outside consultant on the Olympics. He says he's not sure right now where the money will come from, but he doesn't sound too worried.
"After all, we’re talking about a very significant potential exposure if we don’t handle this properly," he said. "And if it costs a few dollars, and we’ll figure out how to pay for it. It’s worth spending a few dollars to make sure we do it right."
Rosenberg's comments followed a meeting with Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo and Gov. Charlie Baker. He says they spent a considerable amount of time talking about this proposal, and everyone's on board.
