Chris Burrell

Investigative Reporter

Chris Burrell is an investigative reporter, covering criminal justice, housing, immigration and other topics at The GBH News Center for Investigative Reporting.

His radio series about a man’s struggle to survive after spending 38 years wrongfully imprisoned earned numerous awards, including a Sigma Delta Chi Award for public service from the Society of Professional Journalists, a Edward R. Murrow Award and a Gabriel Award for narrative storytelling from the Catholic Press Association.

His stories have also aired on National Public Radio and appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Boston Globe. Before coming to GBH in 2016, he worked for the Patriot-Ledger in Quincy, WBUR and the Vineyard Gazette.

He has a master’s degree in education from Goddard College and taught elementary school on Martha’s Vineyard. His undergraduate degree is from Connecticut College.
