Over the past few weeks, Republican officials in dozens of states have been pushing bills that would make it harder for people of color to vote. Among them is Georgia, where the state House passed a bill last week that would reduce the number of ballot drop boxes, add limits to early weekend voting and require identification for absentee voting. The push comes just two months after a surge in Black voters flipped the state blue in both the presidential and Senate run-off elections, and it mirrors legislation being championed by Republican legislatures in other states.
