Television expert Bob Thompson spoke with Boston Public Radio on Monday about actor John Krasinski's Youtube series "Some Good News."

"This is a coronavirus original. Krasinski does this and it's a bunch of reports of happy things that have happened in the news, and each time they do something clever," Thompson said. "If you like that kind of thing, and a lot of people did — 71 million views — it was kind of nice."

The show was free on Youtube, but CBS Viacom has just bought it, Thompson noted. "

Now it's going to be on CBS All Access, so if you want some good news, six bucks a month please and we'll give you some," he said. "The most bizarre thing is that it's not going to star Krasinski, he's going to executive produce it, but they're going to cast someone else in the role which seems really really odd to me."

Bob Thompson is a founding director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture and a trustee professor of television and popular culture at Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
