Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey spoke with Boston Public Radio on Thursday about how the federal government should be responding to the COVID-19 crisis.

"Fundamentally we are going to need a huge infusion of money to bring back all the businesses that are going to fail," she said. "We need a social safety net right now to protect people, since the average American doesn't have 400 extra dollars in their pocket to pay a bill."

We need to see efforts to slow down things like debt collection and mortgage payments, Healey said.

"The bottom line is we need a huge infusion of cash from the federal level in order to take care of people," she said. "Everybody is going to be hurt across industry, and certainly across households, by this crisis, but I think that the federal government really needs to step forward with a significant amount of cash."
