Facebook announced a new policy Tuesday to ban ‘deepfake’ videos on its platform following years of criticism for its decision to allow various forms of misinformation to circulate without any checks in place. However, the new policy will stop short of removing videos that are doctored in less extreme ways, sometimes called ‘shallowfakes.’ So will the change be enough?
