Birthright citizenship has been the law of the land in the United States since 1868, when the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution was adopted. But according to an Axios interview released today, Donald Trump is looking to change that through executive order — something that many legal scholars, and Speaker Paul Ryan, say he cannot do. Between Trump’s latest extreme immigration announcement, and the 5,200 active military troops headed to the border to stop the migrant caravans made up of men, women and children, there is a great deal of discussion about what will happen when they reach the U.S. border.
