ABC has been largely applauded for cutting ties with Roseanne Barr so quickly — just hours after she posted a tweet comparing Jarrett, who is black, to an ape. But this is just the latest in a long line of offensive statements from Barr; and ABC knew exactly what they were getting when they signed onto the Roseanne reboot. Does the organization deserve credit for reactionary moves to fight racism, when they failed to act proactively? The same can be asked about Starbucks, which was lauded for its nationwide racial bias training sessions yesterday, sparked by the arrest of two black men who were waiting for a friend earlier this month.
