If it weren't for the actions of a Waffle House customer, James Shaw Jr.,who ran at the gunman and disarmed him during a deadly shooting Sunday, many more people likely would have died. By contrast, Chuck Cordero saw the shooting unfold and ducked behind his car for cover. His admission recalls the criticism toward Scot Peterson, the armed school resource officer who failed to enter the building during the Parkland School Shooting. At the time, President Trump argued he would have sprung to action, saying “I really believe I’d run in there even if I didn’t have a weapon.”
