The Boston Symphony Orchestra is hosting its first-ever Leipzig Week, to mark a new partnership with the world famous, 275-year-old Gewandhausorchester. This week marks the beginning of a five-year partnership between the two orchestras. Leipzig Week celebrates the alliance, which includes musician exchanges and shared performances in both home countries in addition to concerts all this week. This summer, Leipzig will celebrate its own "Boston Week."
Jim Braude sat down with Andris Nelsons, music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Gewandhaus; Prof. Andreas Schulz, the general director of Gewandhaus; and Mark Volpe, the managing director of the BSO.
