On Veteran's Day, we're zeroing in on events around the world and at home. We're reflecting on the impact American veterans have had in the recent past and decades ago. Of course, ISIS is on the minds of our government leaders, the military, and families with active members serving.

President Barack Obama ordered an additional 1,500 troops to Iraq late last week to bolster the performance of Iraqi and Kurdish forces fighting ISIS on the ground. But WGBH News contributor and GlobalPost co-founder Charlie Sennott says more boots on the ground may be needed to solve the problem.

"They're going need to go with more ground troops if they're going to solve this problem. It is so sad, on Veteran's Day... to think that the long war is about to get longer, but I think it is," said Charlie Sennott.

Sennott says that once the administration begins deploying the additional 1,500, the total number of ground troops will surpass 3,000.

Sennott spoke to WGBH News about ISIS, as well as his new project "The Eleventh Hour." You can listen to the full interview above.
