Colleges and universities everywhere are adapting to a changing higher education landscape, but it's especially difficult for the handful of remaining women’s-only institutions.
The nation’s first female college, Mount Holyoke, opened in 1837. And by 1970, Massachusetts was home to at least 20 all-women colleges. Today, just five remain, and most are having trouble filling seats.
Wellesley College senior Laura Bruno joined Greater Boston to talk about why she hopes her school won't follow suit. And Antoinette Hays, the president of Regis College, a former women's college, discussed the school's transition to coeducation.
