Over the last nine months, the New England Aquarium has been updating its giant ocean tank's windows and coral reef, and this week visitors will be able to see the 2,000 sea creatures inside through clearer, Plexiglas windows.
The tank's windows have been replaced with a clear acrylic, and the frames have been expanded to offer better glimpses into the underwater world. The top of the tank has been transformed with a new education center.
Aquarium officials say the goal is to enhance the facility's physical appearance and to bolster educational and conservation missions.
