When thousands of protestors took to the streets after George Floyd’s murder, one police officer in Boston not only admitted he instigated violence, but bragged about it. He was put on leave after the body cam footage was released by the press. Now, Sgt. Clifton McHale is back on active duty.

Civil rights attorney Carlton Williams joined Jim Braude on Greater Boston to discuss the suspension and what it means for police accountability.

Williams said he was both disappointed and not surprised by the decision. “A lot of us in the civil rights community are hoping for a new day in police accountability and transparency, and it seems like a little but more of the same,” he said. “I think that we should not have police on the force who behave the way this officer did.”
