Legislators are putting forward a bill that would mandate gender balance on all public boards and commissions in the state. It would also require the proportion of people of color on such bodies reflect the state’s population. To discuss the proposed bill, Jim Braude was joined by one of its sponsors, state Rep. Patricia Haddad, D-Bristol, along with Beth Chandler, president and CEO of the advocacy group YW Boston, which formed the Parity on Board Coalition to help advocate for the bill.
