Although it is known that having a long-term health condition can pose a higher risk if someone catches COVID-19, some states — including Massachusetts — do not place such patients much higher on the vaccine priority list than the general public unless they have additional comorbidities. Meanwhile, thousands of people have put off routine health screenings, leading to nearly 1,500 missed cancer diagnoses in just the first few months of the pandemic.
