Nimble and pivot.

Those are two words Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and her company Barrington Stage Company have been living by lately. The company — along with other indoor performance venues — have been told to shut their doors for the second time this year thanks to rising cases and hospitalizations in the state.

But with the first vaccinations being administered this week, there is hope on the horizon for next year, says Boyd.

"You just have to keep on going. Here are our favorite words since last summer: 'nimble and pivot,'" said Boyd. "That's what we're all doing. And if you're not nimble and you can't pivot, then you could get depressed because I think it's up to us to find a way out or a way through. Sometimes it's through, it's not out. And that distance through is sometimes very long."

We also heard from the American Red Cross of Massachusetts, which has worked to not only provide coronavirus aid to residents in Massachusetts, but mutual aid to other states dealing with some of the most severe natural disasters in modern history. American Red Cross Regional CEO Holly Grant explained some of the ways the Red Cross has been helping this year, including a coronavirus convalescent plasma campaign.
