Another Day, Another Delay: Will Massachusetts Ever Fix The T?

It’s becoming the unofficial state motto of Massachusetts: you can’t get there from here, at least in any reasonable amount of time. The latest transit disaster came this week, when thousands of Green Line passengers were stranded after an insulator around wiring failed and a power outage shut down much of the service. It’s far from the first time the MBTA has suffered such problems. So will they ever be fixed?

Adam Reilly, in for Jim Braude, was joined by former Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation James Aloisi, now a founding partner of Pemberton Square Group; former policy director for Gov. Mitt Romney, Charles Chieppo, now a senior fellow at the Pioneer Institute; and Brendan Halpin, an MBTA rider who challenged Gov. Charlie Baker to “The T Pledge” that challenges public officials to ride public transit to work for five days in a row.
