Boston Globe travel writer Christopher Muther joined Boston Public Radio Friday to talk about Bequia, a Caribbean island newly on his radar.

“Bequia is part of St. Vincent and the Grenadines," Muther said. "There’s 32 islands, nine of them are inhabited and Bequia is the second largest of those islands."

What makes Bequia unique compared to its neighboring islands is that many tourists haven't discovered it as a vacation spot yet, Muther said.

"It's kind of a step back in time — no big hotels, one ATM, really gorgeous perfect beaches, not very crowded. It’s a treat," he said. "To get there from Boston is not really terrible, you can take a flight to Barbados and from Barbados you can fly to Bequia."
